A measurement book (MB) is the official record of measurements of work done and materials received on a construction project. Entries are taken on site and signed by the engineer, and they are the basis for paying contractors’ bills.
Each entry records the date, the item of work as described in the BOQ, its location and the measured dimensions — length, breadth and depth — with the resulting quantity. Government departments such as CPWD and state PWDs use bound, page-numbered measurement books; private firms often keep the same record in registers or software.
Because bills are checked against the MB, work should be measured as it progresses — especially items that get covered up, such as foundations, reinforcement and concealed services.
Once measured work is billed, ARC PEM records the contractor bill against the project budget and tracks what has been paid and what is still pending. See all features.
