A site imprest is a fixed cash float given to the site engineer or supervisor to pay small, day-to-day site expenses, which is topped up to its original amount against vouchers when it runs low.
Typical imprest spends are tea and refreshments, local transport, small hardware, repairs, loading and unloading, and minor labour. Large items go through vendor bills and proper approvals.
The imprest holder submits vouchers or bills for what was spent. The balance of cash plus vouchers should always equal the original float, which makes it easy to spot shortages.
Cash spent on sites is where small leaks hide. Entering site expenses against the project the day they happen keeps them visible.
Site engineers and supervisors can enter site expenses against the project from a phone, and payment approvals and a change history for each entry keep the cash trail visible to the office. See all features.
